A BRIEF UPDATE

I don't have much time, but I have to post something! I just don't find time to get on here, but looking through the other blogs, lots of us haven't updated for some time. I think Suzanne is probably right; we all have so many other things going on!

Yesterday was my oldest daugher Faith's 20th birthday! Happy birthday, Faith! She had a wonderful surprise gift from her dear sister Sarah and dearest friend Hayley; they took her to New York City to see Phantom of the Opera!!! What a memory-making day for all of them, especially Faith! Thanks to these girls for making my daughter's day so special! There is no way to express my gratitude and happiness; God is so gracious to have given such good friends to all three of you.

The rest of the family (and Sarah on Monday) has been going to Grandma's to fix up her house to get it ready to rent after all these years! What a lot of dirty, hot work--painting, scaping, tearing off wallpaper, mudding, cleaning, cutting, priming, sanding cutting and tearing out bushes; Tim's doing all the hard work of directing us while planning and executing all the jobs that only he, the talented handyman can do (taking down paddle fans, putting up new ones, leveling floors, removing sinks and toilets, fixing leaks, re-building, re-pairing, and on and on and on. But slowly it gets done. I cannot get all the paint off my hands and arms; I keep trying and then I see more! Ugh. But it has been fun working on it as a family project; and yesterday we even had help from two of Anna's friends. Luke has been a great help, too. All of the children have uncomplainingly accepted and completed jobs that weren't always "fun" or clean.
Thanks, everyone!

We also had the wonderful opportunity to camp in the Shenandoah mountains with our friends the Prices. What a great time of enjoying God's beautiful creation! It was incredible there in the mountains. And the hikes were awesome, too. Challenging, though, but oh, so good when they were completed! The views were beyond description.

So far summer has been jam-packed--and is going much too quickly, but I must enjoy each day and be thankful, not spoiled. (more, more!) Anyway, now I must get ready to meet some new helpers for my mom, clean, shop, wash, etc. Have a wonderful day!
