My New Bedroom Design

Here are some pictures of my "new" room. Anna took the pictures for me before we had all the pictures hung on the wall-- pictures really do add a lot to a room. So maybe another time you'll see those. I have always wanted dark blue walls in my room, but it took three tries to get it right (and much complaining from some of my family.) Not my husband, though; he was so supportive and told me to keep trying. And now he loves the color too.
Let me tell you a little about the room before. It had tan carpet about 35 years old. I was so ashamed of it; it was ripped, soiled, dirty, worn through...the dirt really got to me, though. No matter how much I vacuumed, it was still horrible. We have lived in this house 12 years. Now, thanks to my wonderful, hard-working husband and helpful children, I have this terrific, beautiful hardwook floor! I am really excited because I have never been able to design my room. We always re-do all the other rooms first and then we move, so we never have worked on our room. Well, we did everyone else's rooms and we aren't moving and now it was my turn! Oh, the walls were this '70's light green striped wallpaper before, too.
Anyway, how can I explain my joy at entering my room now? It probably sounds crazy, but my heart leaps when I go in. Wow, this is mine! I know material things are not eternal, and I know this is not really all that important, but I feel so awed that I can have this nice room. I think I was kind of going for kind of an old-fashioned sort of look; it reminds me of some inns we have stayed in--but it is ours! I am very thankful. Thankful for a talented husband who is willing to work, and thankful he was willing and, I think, pleased to do this for ME--what a gift! (He said he would have been ok living in it the way it was forever or with the plywood floor after he ripped up the carpet; he is a simple kind of guy, not needing much at all to enjoy life) (but he agrees it looks good now! especially with the painting of Stonewall hung up!) :>) Anyway, thank you, God, for this material blessing and for such a wonderful family.
Since having this room, I have once again been reminded that NOTHING and NO ONE really satisfies except JESUS. As happy as I am with the room, it is just a room, nothing more, and all my hope and love and struggles and strength comes from the LORD. These things are just temporary; the unseen are the eternal. Maybe more on that later, but for now I have to go!
